BlindnessThoughts

I hope everyone has been having a great day. Here is my films about blindness; this one task was very stressful and I really have a new way of seeing how people even with limited sight impairment can have a very hard time. Be well and take care.

Here is the second video hope everyone enjoys. Please any questions I will be happy to talk about it.

So here is my first video, after some glitches and a lot of hating and swearing at the apple ibook products it is on YouTube. It was a very interesting experience to say the least, a few things that were not in the video was in the strip mall where we ate dinner they only had stairs and then what looked like the construction manager was like opps we forgot ramps for people who need them and these ramps are almost at a 70 degree angle which made it almost impossible to push yourself up it unaided. Another thing was just the sad looks from people, they were not very nice. In my sign off I talk about it but you I didn't do it justice, I think that most of all will be what I will remember most. Hopefully you enjoyed the video and the second one will be on its way. Be well and stayed tuned!

Websites from the project and Videos

Hey everyone, I am currently working on my videos but I found some interesting websites with alot of useful information,
This website really helped me find alot of my numbers it is American Factfinder, if you spend some time looking around I am sure it can help your projects as well. Here is The American Foundation for the Blind Living with Blindness. The National Association of the Deaf http://www.nad.org/. And for everyone doing a project for birth defects here is the website for the March of Dimes marchofdimes.com. And I hope everyone can remember the diseases I listed, here is the website for the ones that can cause blindness, *some pictures can be very graphic* eyedefectsresearch.org.

And here are some videos I found of people over coming their disabilities and rocking in sports, this is BeeperBall or baseball for the blind. And fencing a very competitive and difficult sport to master here are some champs doing it better then some other pros in the Olympics, Fencing.

Well I hope everyone has an amazing Thanksgiving and be well.

Introduction!

To my fellow students and Professor Haines,

My blog will be about living as a person with a disability, but not just one. I plan on living about four hours a day with a specific physical disability. Week 1, will be blindness, Week 2 will be deafness and, finally Week 3 I will be in a wheelchair. I would like to stress that in no way am I making fun of or degrading any persons with such disabilities. I find that reading about and even working with people with disabilities can only take your learning experience so far. I know that I will never truly and fully understand what it is like to live with these disabilities, but I hope to gain a better understanding and try to see the world as they would. I won't be posting all four hours just 20 or 30 mins of video and my reactions after each day. Please bear with me because I am not technologically savvy and it might take me a bit to load the videos. I am looking forward to sharing my experiences and hope we can all learn a little more. Thank you, be well and stay tuned.
